Backend Engineer, Core APIs

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join a fully remote team that builds core APIs for a fraud‑detection platform used by leading technology companies. You will design, develop, and scale high‑performance backend services that process real‑time data and power critical API endpoints.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise scalable backend systems for real‑time data processing and high‑performance web services.
• Build, maintain, and improve APIs, microservices, and backend infrastructure with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Write production‑grade code primarily in Go and/or Node.js, collaborating across services.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to integrate backend components and ensure efficient operation at scale.
• Investigate complex issues through deep technical analysis, root‑cause investigation, and data‑driven experimentation.
• Perform performance tuning, debugging, testing, and reliability improvements.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of professional backend software development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Go and/or Node.js and a willingness to deepen expertise in both.
• Experience building production‑grade, scalable backend systems, APIs, and real‑time data‑processing services.
• Strong understanding of SQL and experience working with relational databases.
