Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

About the role

Forest is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to design, implement and maintain the reliability, scalability and performance of the infrastructure that powers its bike‑rental platform. The role is based in Chile and works closely with teams in both Chile and the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Define, track and improve SLIs, SLOs and error budgets across services.
• Lead incident response, conduct blameless post‑mortems and drive systematic improvements.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code and observability tooling.
• Collaborate with backend, web, mobile and product teams to embed reliability practices from design to production.
• Design and operate database backup and recovery processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in SRE, DevOps or infrastructure engineering.
• Fluent English for effective communication with the UK team.

Required skills

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP) networking, compute and managed services.
• Kubernetes and Docker container orchestration.
• Terraform for infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Linux system administration and networking fundamentals.
• Observability stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (GitHub Actions, Google Cloud Build).
• Database backup strategies and PostgreSQL management.
• Scripting in Go, Python or Bash.
• Knowledge of cloud‑native security best practices and cost optimisation.
