PD&P Piping Designer – 3D Plant Modeling (S3D)

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a PD&P Piping Designer to develop and maintain 3‑D piping models for mining and industrial projects in Santiago. The role involves routing piping systems, producing layout and isometric drawings, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration with overall plant design.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3‑D piping models and plant layouts using S3D, ensuring designs are safe, operable, maintainable and constructible.
• Route piping systems considering process requirements, stress, accessibility, maintenance clearances and safety standards.
• Perform clash detection, resolve design conflicts with other disciplines, and verify equipment access and lifting requirements.
• Extract piping isometrics, orthographic drawings and general arrangement drawings directly from the 3‑D model.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers and vendors to maintain design quality and support constructability reviews.

Required profile

• Technical degree or diploma in Industrial/Mechanical Design or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in piping design and multidisciplinary 3‑D plant modeling (or 12‑14 years overall).
• Legal right to work in Chile without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Proficiency with S3D (3‑D plant layout and piping design software).
• Strong 3‑D modeling and 2‑D drafting capabilities.
• Experience with clash detection and resolution.
• Ability to generate piping isometrics and layout drawings from the model.
