Software Architect (AWS, NodeJS) – Remote

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a senior Software Architect to design and deliver high‑performance, low‑latency services for our clients. This remote position serves a fast‑growing consultancy operating across the United States and Latin America, offering you the chance to shape complex, multi‑tenant cloud solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design low‑latency service architectures on AWS, including queues, caches, and search projections.
• Define explicit latency budgets (p95/p99) and implement synchronous durable commits for hot paths.
• Architect audit and evidence systems using append‑only event logs and deterministic replay.
• Create fail‑open/fail‑closed and degraded‑state semantics, and define outage postures.
• Develop secure multi‑tenant environments with trade‑off analysis (RLS, schema‑per‑tenant, database‑per‑tenant).
• Design and build scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations.
• Produce capacity models, cloud cost/performance projections, and apply the AWS Well‑Architected Framework.
• Establish technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineering teams.
• Document architectures, diagrams, and technical decision records (ADRs) and present them to clients and security reviewers.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years focused on architecture.
• Deep expertise in AWS services and designing low‑latency cloud systems.
• Strong background in PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row‑Level Security and data‑modeling.
• Extensive experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript across the full stack.
• Proven ability to design secure, multi‑tenant solutions and to model cloud cost/performance.
• Experience creating architecture documentation, ADRs, and delivering technical presentations.
• Comfortable working overlapping US business hours.
