Regional Ombudsman (P5) – Santiago

About the role

The Regional Ombudsman leads the United Nations Ombudsman and Mediation Services office in Santiago, providing impartial and neutral support to UN staff and affiliated personnel within the designated region. Reporting directly to the Chief of Service, the role ensures the delivery of informal conflict‑resolution services in line with the UNOMS mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Regional Ombudsman Office in Santiago.
• Provide impartial mediation and conflict‑resolution assistance to UN personnel.
• Ensure compliance with UNOMS policies and procedures.
• Report directly to the Chief of Service and coordinate with the global Ombudsman network.
• Promote a culture of fairness and transparency within the regional UN community.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mediation, conflict resolution, or staff relations, preferably within an international organization.
• Strong understanding of United Nations administrative and justice systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a regional office and manage a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
