Restaurant Accountant with QuickBooks Online Expertise

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant to support its restaurant clients. You will work remotely as an independent contractor, collaborating with a tight‑knit finance team to deliver accurate financial reporting and cost tracking.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain daily financial records, categorize expenses, and manage the general ledger in QuickBooks Online.
• Reconcile daily POS sales reports with cash deposits, credit‑card payouts, and third‑party delivery app transactions.
• Process vendor invoices, ensure timely payments, and keep accounts payable up to date.
• Monitor restaurant‑specific metrics such as food & beverage COGS and labor costs.
• Perform monthly bank and credit‑card statement reconciliations and generate basic P&L reports for owners/managers.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry.
• Availability to work 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday.
• Willingness to operate as an independent contractor.

Required skills

• Strong, practical experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Familiarity with restaurant POS systems and their integration with QBO (e.g., Toast, Clover, Square).
