Senior 3PL & Cold Chain Logistics Executive

About the role

This senior position leads the management of third‑party logistics (3PL) providers and ensures the integrity of cold‑chain operations for vaccine distribution across Chile. The role combines vendor oversight, regulatory compliance, and cost optimisation to guarantee reliable delivery of temperature‑sensitive products.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison for all external logistics partners, including warehouses and refrigerated transport carriers, and enforce agreed SLAs.
• Monitor 3PL performance using KPIs such as OTIF, temperature compliance, and inventory accuracy; conduct regular on‑site reviews.
• Oversee end‑to‑end cold‑chain processes for vaccines (2‑8 °C, ‑20 °C, ultra‑low temperature), validating thermal packaging and monitoring equipment.
• Lead investigations of temperature excursions and coordinate with providers’ quality teams.
• Identify network optimisation opportunities, manage the logistics budget, and verify 3PL billing against rates and tariffs.
• Develop contingency and “Ready‑to‑Respond” plans for disruptions such as social unrest or equipment failure.
• Ensure compliance with ISP Norma Técnica 147, 208 and Good Distribution Practices; coordinate customs clearance and maintain complete documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Pharmacy, Logistics, or International Trade; Master’s or professional certification in Supply Chain/Cold‑Chain is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of senior logistics experience managing 3PL providers in the pharmaceutical or vaccine sector within Chile.

Required skills

• Third‑Party Management: selection, contract negotiation, and auditing of 3PL/4PL providers.
• Cold‑Chain Technical Expertise: active/passive cooling systems, data logger technology, thermal mapping.
• Knowledge of Chilean regulatory framework: ISP standards and customs procedures for pharmaceutical imports.
• Advanced Excel/BI reporting skills.
• Experience with SAP or comparable ERP systems.
