Senior Charge Nurse

About the role

The Senior Charge Nurse will provide clinical leadership and day‑to‑day management for the Intensive Care Unit at Victoria Hospital. Working within a motivated team of Critical Care nurses, you will drive service improvement and ensure high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the ICU team in delivering safe, effective care to critically ill patients.
• Oversee recruitment, supervision, development and deployment of nursing staff.
• Manage out‑of‑hours rotational cover for the Directorate, addressing clinical and staffing issues.
• Lead service improvement projects to raise quality and safety standards.
• Collaborate with Senior Charge Nurses, Clinical Nurse Educator and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

Required profile

• Extensive clinical and leadership experience in Critical Care.
• Enthusiasm for implementing change and motivating teams.
• Ability to assess care needs and develop/implement care programmes.
• Willingness to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
