Specialty Doctor – Renal Medicine

About the role

The NHS Lanarkshire team at University Hospital Monklands is seeking a substantive Specialty Doctor to join a friendly, multidisciplinary renal department. You will deliver both inpatient and outpatient renal services, including dialysis and procedural work, while contributing to virtual‑ward activities and on‑call duties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient renal care.
• Perform dialysis, renal procedures and manage virtual‑ward patients.
• Participate in on‑call rotas and general internal medicine duties.
• Engage in CME, governance, and departmental meetings.
• Develop and lead quality‑improvement, patient‑safety, education and research initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Specialty Doctor in renal and general internal medicine.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, medical education and research.
• Willingness to propose and undertake additional SPA time for service development.
