Backend Software Engineer – Java & Spring Boot (Mid‑Level)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join the Mercado Ads team. You will work on building and scaling secure, high‑impact systems that power our advertising platform. The role is based in Santiago, Chile and follows a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and scale innovative backend services using Java and the Spring Boot framework.
• Maintain and support modern applications, ensuring reliable integration with RESTful APIs.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional product, data and infrastructure teams to identify improvement opportunities.
• Incorporate architectural best practices and new technologies to boost team efficiency.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues in cloud environments.

Required profile

• Solid background in backend development with proven experience in Java (Spring Boot).
• Hands‑on experience with distributed systems, REST APIs and building scalable solutions.
• Understanding of application architecture and design patterns such as CLEAN, SOLID and DRY.
• Familiarity with both relational and non‑relational databases.
