Civil/Structural Designer

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Civil/Structural Designer to support its Mining & Metals projects in Santiago. The role involves field investigations, client interviews, and the development of civil and structural designs that meet the unique requirements of critical‑mineral extraction facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and execute detailed phases of civil/structural engineering work for global projects.
• Prepare original design layouts, detailed drawings, and specifications for structures, buildings, roadways, railways, and related infrastructure.
• Participate in design development, modification, and constructability reviews using Bechtel Engineering Department Procedures and design standards.
• Design structures based on structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and material behavior.
• Select appropriate structural elements (steel, wood, masonry, concrete) according to load and stress requirements.
• Generate and review engineering deliverables such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisites.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Proven experience in civil/structural design for industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to lead design reviews and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical skills to assess field data and translate it into design solutions.
