Commissioning Engineer – Solar PV / BESS

About the role

Huawei Technologies is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning, testing and start‑up of its Digital Power Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Chile. The role involves on‑site work at project locations, close collaboration with EPC contractors, customers and internal teams, and frequent travel across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, testing and start‑up of BESS, PCS, EMS and related electrical equipment.
• Verify installation, electrical connections, grounding, protection and communication systems.
• Configure and test PCS, battery and EMS parameters.
• Troubleshoot BESS, PCS, EMS, communication and alarm issues.
• Support SCADA/EMS integration, grid connection and system acceptance.
• Prepare commissioning reports and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with EPCs, customers and internal technical teams.
• Travel frequently to project sites in Chile.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Automation or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in BESS commissioning, electrical commissioning or field engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with BESS, PCS and EMS preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, single‑line diagrams and protection systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Willingness to work on‑site and travel frequently.
• Knowledge of Chilean electrical regulations and SEC requirements is a plus.
