Design Engineer IV

About the role

Fluor Constructors is seeking a Design Engineer IV to lead engineering efforts on complex projects. The role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and cost‑effective execution to deliver high‑quality solutions for our global clientele.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects, handling moderately complex engineering assignments.
• Develop and review specifications, design criteria, and cost‑competitive execution techniques.
• Participate in equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
• Perform and verify engineering calculations, specify equipment, and solve technical problems.
• Review vendor documentation for compliance and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze problems and provide independent recommendations aligned with project objectives.
• Support effort‑hour estimating, staff forecasting, and other project‑related duties.

Required profile

• Accredited four‑year engineering degree (or global equivalent) with at least eight years of relevant experience.
• Professional certification or registration in the applicable engineering discipline where required.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with management, clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Ability to interpret local, state/province, and federal regulations.
• Detail‑oriented, time‑conscious, and capable of working independently.
• Professional membership in technical societies (preferred).

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards.
• Effort‑hour estimating and staff forecasting.
• Intermediate proficiency with word processing, email, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
• Engineering calculations and cost estimating.
