Design Specialist

About the role

Fluor is seeking a Design Specialist to lead design areas on complex projects. The role focuses on creating and reviewing advanced 3D layouts and schematics, ensuring technical excellence and supporting the company’s competitive edge in the global marketplace.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Design Area Lead on assigned projects.
• Perform 3D layout work of moderate to high complexity.
• Prepare 3D layouts and schematics for conceptual and detailed designs.
• Conduct model reviews using a 3D review platform and generate advanced 3D models.
• Review and verify work produced by other designers.
• Develop estimates, schedules, staffing plans, progress reports, and key quantity tracking.
• Analyze problems and provide independent technical recommendations.
• Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Accredited two‑year degree (or global equivalent) with 20 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and 22 years experience.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with management, clients, vendors, and team members.
• Technical knowledge necessary to complete design tasks.
• Ability to understand and apply local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
• Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under time constraints.
• Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials.
• Practical field experience.
• Intermediate proficiency with word processing, email, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation software.
