Engineering Manager – Data Acquisition Bulk

About the role

Checkr is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Data Acquisition Bulk team, which maintains and expands the largest U.S. national criminal database supporting all Checkr products. You will guide a tech‑ops group, shape technical vision, and ensure the platform scales safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Define and communicate a compelling technical roadmap for the team.
• Partner with product management to deliver new features and improve existing ones.
• Drive reduction of technical debt and sustainable scaling of the architecture.
• Build strong cross‑functional relationships and represent the team in planning meetings.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow engineers based on their career aspirations.
• Optimize engineering processes and policies to increase velocity and quality.

Required profile

• 4+ years experience as an engineering manager.
• 8+ years experience as a software engineer.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage quality incidents and lead technical communication.
• Experience building products at scale with awareness of data, legal, and regulatory impacts.
• Strong critical‑thinking, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Commitment to inclusive team building and mentorship.
• Bias for action, resilience in ambiguity, and ownership of outcomes.
