Health & Safety Engineer - Solar

About the role

Huawei Technologies is seeking a Health & Safety Engineer specialized in solar projects to support the implementation of its EHS strategy across business units. The role involves delivering safety controls, audits, training and incident reduction initiatives for construction and operational sites.

Key responsibilities

• Support adoption and implementation of Huawei’s health and safety strategy for solar projects.
• Plan and execute EHS projects, conduct audits and safety controls.
• Drive incident reduction by developing improvement programs and providing practical safety advice to project teams and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance of the management system with BS OHSAS 18001 and local legal requirements, and support yearly surveillance audits.
• Conduct health and safety compliance audits across business units and offices.
• Provide EHS technical solutions, risk assessments and interact with project managers.
• Deliver health and safety training, including IOSH and H&S awareness programs.
• Carry out construction health and safety inspections, review construction phase plans, risk assessments, method statements and lifting plans.
• Investigate incidents, prepare detailed reports for management and customers.
• Support health and safety representatives and maintain a development program.

Required profile

• EHS Engineer degree, diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience as an EHS engineer in project‑based organizations, preferably in PV, BESS or energy fields.
• Experience delivering training programs and working with management systems (BS OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001).
• Solid understanding of construction and engineering aspects (mechanical, electrical, PV parks) is an advantage.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel across offices.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
