Infrastructure Engineer - Core Infrastructure

About the role

Join the Core Infrastructure – Platforms team at Payward, the company behind Kraken, to help evolve and scale the OpenStack platform that powers all on‑premises and cloud workloads. You will work with senior engineers to deliver a reliable, secure foundation for compute, storage and networking.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and enhance OpenStack components (Nova, Neutron, Ironic) as part of a next‑generation infrastructure.
• Learn and troubleshoot Ceph storage architecture, including Cinder and Kubernetes CSI integrations.
• Handle feature requests and support tickets for OpenStack and storage systems.
• Collaborate with SRE, networking and security teams to resolve complex full‑stack issues.
• Develop automation and tooling to reduce operational toil.
• Maintain documentation, runbooks and participate in on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience as an Infrastructure, Platform or DevOps Engineer.
• Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset.
• Hands‑on experience building or maintaining a private OpenStack cloud or Ceph storage platform.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and Linux fundamentals.
• Knowledge of networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, TLS/PKI).
• Ability to leverage AI tools such as Claude for automation.
