Intellectual Property Attorney – Patent Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Attorney with a focus on patents to join a leading technology client. In this foundational position you will work closely with engineering, AI, and executive teams to protect and grow the company’s IP portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Identify patentable inventions in collaboration with engineering and AI teams.
• Draft, review, and file patent applications with the USPTO, INDECOPI, and through the PCT system.
• Manage the full patent lifecycle, including prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement.
• Conduct freedom‑to‑operate analyses and assess infringement risks.
• Develop and align an international IP strategy with product roadmaps.
• Draft and negotiate licensing agreements, NDAs, and IP assignment agreements.
• Review IP clauses in client, vendor, and partnership contracts.
• Coordinate with external counsel for specialized prosecution or litigation matters.
• Train technical teams on invention disclosure and IP best practices.
• Prepare IP reports for audits, investors, fundraising, and due diligence.

Required profile

• Law degree with a specialization in Intellectual Property, Patent Law, or Technology Law.
• Proven experience drafting and managing patent applications before the USPTO, PCT, or INDECOPI.
• Strong understanding of software, artificial intelligence, or cloud‑based technologies.
• Advanced English proficiency for legal drafting and international correspondence.
• Experience conducting freedom‑to‑operate analyses and negotiating IP agreements.
