Middle School Visual Art Teacher

About the role

International School Nido de Aguilas seeks a passionate Middle School Visual Art Teacher for the 2026‑2027 academic year, beginning February 2027. The role is full‑time and focuses on inspiring students in grades 6‑8 to explore visual arts through inquiry‑based learning.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver curriculum aligned with the National Core Arts Standards (NCAS) and the Understanding By Design framework.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning needs.
• Assess student progress, use evidence to inform instruction, and differentiate learning activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop authentic, student‑centered learning experiences.
• Lead and participate in exhibitions, cultural events, and community arts activities.
• Serve as a middle school advisor, supervise lunchtime/recess, and contribute to after‑school programs.
• Engage in professional development through the school’s PD Academy.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in a multicultural school setting.
• Valid teaching certificate covering grades 6‑8 in Visual Art.
• Professional level proficiency in English.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and inspire middle‑school learners.

Required skills

• Experience using the National Core Arts Standards (NCAS) and an inquiry‑based approach.
• Familiarity with curriculum design using the Understanding By Design framework.
• Strong knowledge of current research and trends in art instruction, assessment, and curriculum.
