PD&P Engineer

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a PD&P Engineer to plan, develop, coordinate and review plant design and piping work on large‑scale mining and metals projects. The role focuses on optimizing facility layouts, ensuring compliance with client requirements and current technology, and supporting the energy transition through sustainable resource extraction.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, select and apply standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques and procedures.
• Prepare original design layouts, detailed drawings and specifications for complex plant and piping infrastructure.
• Develop and interpret design criteria and specifications for global projects.
• Examine pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance.
• Optimize facility layout based on P&ID, client needs, technology and maintenance requirements.
• Analyze conflicting design requirements and propose viable solutions.
• Assess suitability of unconventional materials and coordination challenges.
• Plan, coordinate and prepare equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations.

Required profile

• Experience in plant design and piping engineering for large industrial projects.
• Familiarity with ANSI/ASME codes and piping standards.
• Ability to interpret and develop detailed design criteria and specifications.
• Strong analytical skills to resolve complex design conflicts.
