Principal Ops Readiness

About the role

The Principal Ops Readiness role provides operational readiness leadership for a sub‑portfolio of investments or a single critical investment within BHP Chile. The role supports the Operational Readiness Manager and Area Lead Manager in delivering readiness activities across the region, ensuring assets are prepared for safe and efficient operation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimise and govern asset and maintenance strategies to drive continuous improvement and best‑practice replication.
• Create operational readiness plans, schedules and deliverables, and evaluate systems for compliance with standards.
• Verify construction methodologies and advise on engineering decisions in line with project, construction and commissioning standards.
• Identify, engage and manage a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Assess risks, apply BHP’s risk management framework and promote a risk‑aware culture.
• Plan, track and manage projects to generate value and achieve outcomes.
• Design and implement governance, assurance practices and Management of Change procedures.
• Embed operational requirements and value drivers into project scope, design and handover.
• Ensure ops‑readiness cost and schedule are integrated into master plans and that operational impacts are considered in trade‑off analyses.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, STEM or Business (Metallurgical Engineer or Chemical Engineer preferred).
• Relevant experience in project management or operational readiness within a mining or industrial environment.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and safety culture.
