Sales & Occupancy Tax Analyst

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Sales & Occupancy Tax Analyst to own tax compliance for our hospitality and short‑term rental clients. You will bridge complex financial data with client satisfaction, ensuring accurate, timely filing across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, verify and file multi‑jurisdictional sales, occupancy and lodging tax returns on schedule.
• Perform tax calculations from reservation‑level data, including accommodation fares, cleaning fees and other taxable components.
• Reconcile transaction data across Property Management Systems, tax software reports and internal records to achieve 100 % accuracy.
• Maintain tax compliance calendars and ensure timely remittances to avoid penalties.
• Serve as primary contact for state and local tax authorities, handling notices, audits and inquiries.
• Build and improve structured tax reports for internal leadership and client use.
• Advise clients on aligning their operational setup with specific tax requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in hospitality, lodging or short‑term rental tax compliance.
• Deep understanding of short‑term rental and property‑management tax structures.
• High ownership, accountability and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet recurring monthly deadlines and communicate effectively with tax authorities and clients.

Required skills

• Experience with Property Management Systems such as Streamline or Guesty.
• Proficiency with tax automation tools like Avalara MyLodgeTax and ERP systems such as NetSuite.
• Advanced Excel for data reconciliation and analysis.
