Senior Frontend Software Engineer – Payments

About the role

Payward is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join its Payments & Blockchain team. You will focus on building and enhancing the frontend of payment processing systems that handle both digital and fiat transactions, ensuring speed, security, and a seamless user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality payment processing interfaces using React.js and related technologies.
• Build seamless transaction experiences that optimise fund transfers for speed, reliability and security.
• Improve onboarding flows to reduce friction and increase user trust.
• Create innovative features that boost engagement, retention and loyalty within the payments ecosystem.
• Set standards for secure, high‑quality code and lead the development of complex financial software.
• Influence technical decisions, contribute to product strategy and shape domain architecture.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence.
• Design scalable, maintainable and fault‑tolerant financial systems while adhering to compliance and security best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development experience, primarily on web and mobile applications.
• Strong command of JavaScript/TypeScript and proven expertise with React and React Native.
• Hands‑on experience with Next.js, RESTful APIs and WebSockets.
• Familiarity with frontend testing frameworks and modern build pipelines.
• Solid understanding of UI/UX best practices.
• Background in a large technology organisation or fast‑growing startup.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
