Architect – Mining & Metals Projects

About the role

Bechtel is seeking an experienced Architect to join its Mining & Metals team in Santiago. The role involves planning, developing, designing, and coordinating architectural work on large‑scale projects that support the global energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare original design layouts, detailed drawings, and specifications, adapting them as project requirements evolve.
• Analyze conflicting design requirements, generate sketches, and propose viable solutions.
• Evaluate unconventional materials, techniques, and complex coordination challenges.
• Assist in preparing cost estimates, quantity take‑offs, forecasts, and change orders.
• Develop conceptual studies, design reports, and proposal documents.
• Coordinate architectural efforts with engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, and construction teams.
• Prepare procurement and subcontract requisition documents and conduct technical bid evaluations with award recommendations.
• When delegated, provide guidance to junior architectural staff.

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture or related field.
• Proven experience on large, multidisciplinary projects, preferably in mining or metals sectors.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve complex design issues.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
