Civil Structural Designer

About the role

The Civil Structural Designer will support the AD800 Project – Phase 2 expansion of the Minera Los Pelambres desalination plant. The role involves field investigations, client interviews, and the development of cost estimates for civil and structural components. You will lead design, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews to ensure the project meets its unique technical requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of civil/structural engineering work for the project.
• Prepare original design layouts, detailed drawings, and specifications for structures, buildings, roadways, and related infrastructure.
• Design and evaluate civil/structural components using Bechtel Engineering Department Procedures, design standards, and internal review tools (BSAP, DCCL, DRN).
• Apply advanced structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering, to determine appropriate use of steel, wood, masonry, and concrete.
• Generate and review complex structural deliverables such as steel and concrete calculations and drawings.

Required profile

• Experience conducting field investigations and client interviews to define scope and cost.
• Proven ability to lead design and constructability reviews for civil/structural projects.
• Strong technical expertise to meet complex project requirements.
