Data Engineer

About the role

YCharts is looking for a Data Engineer to help maintain and expand its financial data pipeline covering more than 200,000 securities. You will work on ensuring data is consistent, reliable, timely and accurate while collaborating with product and business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Write production‑grade Python code (with unit tests) using the Django framework to implement complex backend features.
• Build and enhance data pipelines with Apache Airflow, processing large volumes of financial data.
• Utilise pandas and Celery for efficient calculation of thousands of data points per security.
• Design robust data models that reflect the structure and type of financial data.
• Plan, estimate, ticket and deliver features scoped by the product team.
• Conduct code reviews and document work both in‑repo and externally for future engineers.
• Collaborate verbally and in writing with cross‑functional teams to design a world‑class research platform.

Required profile

• 2+ years of relevant industry or academic experience.
• Strong Python development skills; Django experience is a plus.
• Proven ability to design, build and maintain backend application features.
• Experience delivering multi‑month projects from conception to maintenance.
• Ownership mindset and ability to work independently.
• Comfort communicating technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
