DevOps Engineer

About the role

Plan A Technologies is seeking a hands‑on DevOps Engineer to codify its infrastructure and lead a seamless migration from an on‑premises GitLab instance to GitLab SaaS. The role is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while collaborating with a supportive engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, test, and execute migration of repositories, user permissions, issues, merge requests and historical data from GitLab on‑prem to GitLab SaaS.
• Audit the current infrastructure and fully codify it using IaC tools to enable repeatable, documented deployments.
• Refactor and optimise existing CI/CD pipelines to align with GitLab SaaS best practices, including shared/private runners and cloud‑native workflows.
• Re‑architect access controls, secrets management and user permissions for a secure SaaS model.
• Perform dry‑runs, data validation and rollback planning to ensure minimal downtime.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer.
• Proven track record of managing and migrating GitLab instances from self‑hosted/on‑prem to SaaS.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Initiative, drive and ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Required skills

• GitLab administration and migration.
• Complex GitLab CI/CD pipeline development, debugging and optimisation.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu or CloudFormation.
• Experience with cloud‑native workflows, shared/private runners and secrets management.
