Lead Auditor – Mining & Metals Sustainability

About the role

As a Lead Auditor you will provide independent, high‑quality assurance for mining and metals organisations, ensuring they meet internationally recognised sustainability, social and management system standards. You will work at the intersection of human rights, Indigenous engagement and operational accountability, helping clients build credibility and deliver responsible resource development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver third‑party certification and assurance audits against ISO frameworks, IRMA, The Copper Mark, ICMM, ASI and related ESG standards.
• Assess client performance on human rights, labour practices, Indigenous Peoples’ rights and grievance mechanisms.
• Translate audit findings into clear, actionable recommendations for senior decision‑makers.
• Contribute to the evolution of ERM CVS’s assurance methodologies and raise sector‑wide standards.
• Travel internationally up to 50% to conduct on‑site audits and engage with diverse stakeholder groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, social sciences, law, public policy, anthropology, resource management or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 completed audits or 3+ years where auditing comprised at least 25% of professional duties in the last five years.
• Experience in social impact assessment, FPIC, Indigenous rights, resettlement or social performance within mining or related sectors.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across cultures.
