Mechanical Engineer – Mining & Metals Projects

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical equipment packages for copper processing and mining plants in Santiago. The role focuses on projects such as concentrators, leaching facilities, SX/EW truck‑shop plants, tailings handling, and process water or desalination plants.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage mechanical packages as the technical leader for project documents and schedules.
• Develop detailed engineering designs for pumps, HVAC systems, material‑handling equipment, grinding circuits, and related mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary Bechtel teams, customers, and vendors to define scope, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
• Review and approve engineering designs, modifications, and evaluations to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Provide technical recommendations to solve complex mechanical challenges.

Required profile

• Proven experience with mechanical equipment in mining process plants, especially copper processing.
• Strong knowledge of pumps, water and sludge distribution networks, HVAC, and material‑handling systems.
• Ability to lead technical meetings and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
