Openroad Designer

About the role

The Openroad Designer will lead field investigations, client interviews, and cost‑estimate development for civil and structural components of large‑scale infrastructure projects. You will ensure that design, development, modification, and constructability reviews meet the unique and complex requirements of each project.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and execute detailed phases of civil/structural engineering work for global business units or specific projects.
• Prepare original design layouts, detailed drawings, and specifications for structures, buildings, roadways, railways, and related infrastructure.
• Participate in the design, development, and modification of civil/structural components using Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs), Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs).
• Apply structural analysis techniques—including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering—to determine appropriate use of steel, wood, masonry, and concrete.
• Generate and review engineering deliverables such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisites.

Required profile

• Proven experience in civil or structural engineering design and constructability review.
• Ability to conduct field investigations and translate client requirements into technical scope.
• Strong understanding of load and stress requirements for various structural materials.
