SEF Construction Manager – Site, Enclosure & Facilities

About the role

The SEF Construction Manager reports to the SEF Project Element Manager and leads construction management for the Site, Enclosure and Facilities (SEF) element of the Giant Magellan Telescope project. The role ensures that the ~$400M Las Campanas campus, comprising five major buildings, is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support the PEM in delivering SEF construction products to agreed safety, quality, budget, schedule, and technical requirements.
• Serve as cost account manager for the construction management contract and related SEF contracts.
• Coordinate site construction activities with the ACM contractor team and ensure safety and quality processes are enforced.
• Lead procurement strategy development for construction contracts ranging from $10M to $300M.
• Manage construction risk, develop mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with NSF standards.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal teams, external contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum BS degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• At least 15 years of successful international construction project and contract management experience at the $100M+ level.
• Proven ability to work with multidisciplinary teams on complex, remote, high‑elevation projects.
• Strong leadership, organizational and management skills.

• Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish (CEFR B1 or better).
