Senior Accountant – Vacation Rental Portfolio (Remote)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a Senior Accountant with direct vacation‑rental experience to lead client onboarding and streamline accounting operations for short‑term rental businesses. This fully remote position supports a growing portfolio of vacation‑rental clients and plays a critical role in delivering accurate, timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead onboarding of new vacation‑rental clients, setting up accounting systems and ensuring accurate data migration.
• Customize and optimize accounting workflows for each client, including trust accounting and owner‑statement preparation.
• Prepare, review, and close month‑end financial statements, reconciliations, and property‑level reports.
• Work with vacation‑rental platforms such as property‑management systems, channel managers, and trust accounting tools.
• Identify process improvements and implement scalable accounting solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance efficiency and client experience.
• Serve as the subject‑matter expert on vacation‑rental accounting standards and best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior‑level accounting experience, preferably in the vacation‑rental industry.
• Hands‑on experience with trust accounting, owner statements, and property‑level reporting.
• Proven track record of onboarding new clients and configuring accounting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
