Senior Backend Engineer – Real‑time Bidding & Platform

About the role

Excel™ is seeking a senior backend‑heavy engineer to lead the next generation of high‑leverage internal platforms that power real‑time bidding and data‑driven revenue tools. You will work on mission‑critical systems such as eBid, a real‑time bid management engine, and eMax, an internal intelligence platform.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop core components of eBid and eMax, focusing on scalability and low latency.
• Standardize microservices across the organization, unifying frameworks, patterns, and deployment pipelines.
• Drive adoption of OpenFaaS for event‑driven and serverless workloads.
• Design and implement end‑to‑end distributed tracing using OpenTracing/OpenTelemetry.
• Elevate security posture and increase automated testing coverage (unit, integration, contract).
• Define and enforce service level agreements (SLAs) for all microservices.

Required profile

• Senior‑level backend engineer with strong system architecture experience.
• Proven track record in building and standardizing microservice ecosystems.
• Deep understanding of API design, security best practices, and automated testing.
• Comfortable working in a remote‑first, agile environment.
