Senior Design Engineer

About the role

Fluor is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead complex engineering assignments, provide essential administrative processes, and deliver high‑value technical solutions for U.S. government agencies. The role combines technical expertise with leadership to enhance Fluor’s competitiveness in the global marketplace.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review project estimates, schedules, progress reports, and workforce forecasts.
• Establish, track, and monitor material quantities, providing analysis and forecasts.
• Develop and review specifications and design criteria.
• Participate in equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
• Perform calculations, specify equipment, and solve complex engineering problems.
• Mentor staff, create training material, conduct seminars, and contribute to performance appraisals.
• Analyze issues and make independent recommendations aligned with project objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Accredited four‑year engineering degree (or global equivalent).
• Minimum ten years of relevant work experience.
• Professional certification or registration in the applicable engineering field, where required.
• Strong communication skills with diverse audiences.
• Ability to interpret local, state/province, and federal statutes and guidelines.
• Detail‑oriented and capable of managing time‑critical tasks.
• Preferred membership in technical societies and advanced knowledge of discipline codes, standards, and material costs.
