Superintendent Projects Commercial – Lead Contracting & Procurement

About the role

The Superintendent Projects Commercial will lead the development and implementation of contracting strategies, standards, processes, and systems for a large‑scale capital projects portfolio. This role ensures safe, value‑maximising delivery of multi‑billion‑dollar investments while managing key internal and external interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with BHP Charter, Group documents, Code of Conduct and statutory obligations.
• Champion health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
• Develop and lead contracting and procurement strategies for EPCM and EPC models, identifying interfaces and risks.
• Administer and manage EPCM/EPC contracts, monitor performance and ensure contractual compliance.
• Act as focal point for Contracts, Procurement and Supply, applying an end‑to‑end supply‑chain perspective.
• Evaluate risk profiles, project drivers and contracting options to support execution plans.
• Manage contract execution, performance analysis and risk mitigation to achieve operational and financial outcomes.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation and alignment with BHP’s risk‑management framework.
• Engage and manage diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Economics, Business Administration, Law or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in project environments, with extensive procurement and contract‑management experience (EPCM/EPC).
• Minimum 2 years leading commercial teams.
• Advanced written and verbal English communication skills.
