Sustainable Development Officer

About the role

The Sustainable Development Officer will work in the Sustainable Development and Human Settlements Division of ECLAC, reporting to the Division Chief. The role supports Member States and partners by monitoring programmes, conducting research, and providing policy advice on sustainable development issues.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse programme and project development, identify issues, and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
• Design and facilitate workshops, training sessions and outreach activities on sustainable development topics.
• Research, collect and analyse data, produce visualisations and draft policy recommendations, background papers and reports.
• Lead or support field missions, coordinate budget‑related documentation and prepare inputs for senior staff presentations.
• Develop and manage capacity‑building projects, including survey design, data collection tools and evaluation of results.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in sustainable development, economics, public policy, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in project/programme management, policy analysis and sustainable development, including environmental governance and climate change.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish; French or Portuguese is desirable.
• Demonstrated experience with data analytics and data‑driven decision making.
