Biologist – Wetland & Restoration Ecologist

About the role

Olberding Environmental, Inc. is seeking an experienced Biologist to lead wetland delineations, stream assessments, and riparian management projects in Northern California. The role combines field leadership, data collection, and technical reporting within a consulting environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and conduct wetland determination/delineation surveys, flora/fauna surveys, and habitat assessments.
• Perform vegetation inventories and collect field data using handheld tablets, GPS, and GIS software.
• Prepare and author technical reports, including USACE three‑parameter aquatic resource delineations.
• Mentor entry‑level staff and support their professional development.
• Organize and schedule field surveys for the season, ensuring compliance with project timelines.

Required profile

• BS degree or higher in Biology, Botany, Ecology, Natural Resources, or related field.
• Five or more years of relevant professional experience, including at least two years leading wetland delineation surveys under USACE South Pacific Division guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with critical deadlines.
• Strong independent work ethic, organizational and technical writing skills.
