Buyer

About the role

The Buyer is responsible for placing and authorising purchase orders within assigned limits, ensuring timely delivery and accurate record‑keeping. You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to optimise inventory while minimising working capital.

Key responsibilities

• Review daily purchasing reports, determine appropriate quantities, and generate purchase documents for suppliers.
• Maintain inventory availability and execute tactical stock replenishment, special orders and drop‑ship purchases.
• Guarantee accurate purchase order details, costs, notes and terms compliance.
• Manage electronic data interchange (EDI), automated stock replenishment (ASR/VMI), and ensure orders reach suppliers via email or fax.
• Follow up on order status, communicate delivery information, and resolve shipping errors.
• Review excess and inactive inventory reports and negotiate return authorisations with suppliers.
• Assist managers in evaluating supplier performance on delivery, fill rates, errors and cost improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field.
• At least 1 year of purchasing experience in a supply‑chain environment.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing and inventory concepts, practices and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and work independently.
