Charge Nurse – Robotics (Annex 21) – 75% Band 6 Salary

About the role

We are seeking a Charge Nurse to lead the robotics‑enabled peri‑operative team within NHS Lanarkshire. The post holder will provide expert clinical care, act as first assistant to the operating surgeon, and ensure safe, efficient delivery of patient services while progressing through the Annex 21 training programme.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the operating surgeon during robotic and conventional procedures, maintaining high standards of clinical practice.
• Lead and supervise the theatre nursing team, coordinating patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Manage stock, equipment and consumables specific to robotic surgery.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures and protocols in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
• Drive service improvement initiatives and conduct clinical audits to ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
• Provide education, mentorship and professional development for nursing staff.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• Degree‑level education, with postgraduate expertise in a relevant specialty.
• Experience in peri‑operative or robotic surgery environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and manage complex clinical situations.
