Clinical Educator – Perioperative Services (Band 6)

About the role

The Clinical Educator will join the perioperative team at Monklands Theatre, supporting learning and development for all staff working in the operating theatre environment. This Band 6 position is offered as either a permanent role or a six‑month fixed‑term secondment.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and create an environment that encourages learning, teaching and development for all staff, including trainees.
• Coordinate educational activities and staff development within the defined perioperative remit.
• Plan, implement and evaluate education and training programmes for the perioperative environment.
• Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to staff, ensuring supervision, training and education of a range of staff groups.
• Assist with the recruitment process for perioperative positions.
• Direct and assist with the planning and delivery of clinical teaching for student nurses, operating department practitioners, associate practitioners and post‑registration nurses.
• Support and manage nursing staff and associate practitioners within the operating theatre, ensuring patient needs are assessed, care is planned, delivered and evaluated in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Required profile

• For the fixed‑term post, the applicant must already be an NHS Lanarkshire employee with written agreement from their line manager to be released on secondment.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership and supervise staff in a perioperative setting.
