Clinical Educator – Perioperative Services

About the role

The NHS Lanarkshire team is seeking a Band 6 Clinical Educator to join the perioperative services at Monklands Theatre. This role offers both a permanent full‑time position and a six‑month fixed‑term contract, providing a supportive environment for staff development and patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and create a learning environment for all staff, including trainees.
• Coordinate educational activities and staff development within the perioperative remit.
• Plan, implement and evaluate education and training programmes for the operating theatre environment.
• Provide clinical leadership, guidance and supervision to nursing and associate practitioner teams.
• Assist with recruitment processes and manage secondment arrangements where applicable.
• Deliver clinical teaching for student nurses, operating department practitioners and post‑registration nurses.
• Support and manage theatre staff to ensure patient needs are assessed, planned, delivered and reviewed in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or equivalent with experience in perioperative settings.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and educate clinical staff.
• Strong organisational skills for planning and evaluating training programmes.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with senior charge nurses and multidisciplinary teams.
