Community Addictions Nurse (Argyll & Bute)

About the role

The Community Addictions Nurse will join the Argyll and Bute Addiction Team in Cowal, working within an integrated health and social care environment. You will provide specialist mental health nursing care to individuals with substance‑use issues, supporting recovery and promoting safe, effective treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients with drug and alcohol dependencies.
• Develop, implement and evaluate personalised recovery plans.
• Manage an individual caseload and coordinate care across services.
• Support local GP practices in shared‑care clinics delivering opioid replacement therapy.
• Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care.
• Deliver evidence‑based interventions and maintain high standards of clinical safety.

Required profile

• Registered mental health nurse (NMC‑registered).
• Significant post‑registration experience in mental health nursing.
• Relevant experience in drug and alcohol services.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to partnership working.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team.
