Contracts/Shipping Engineer - Temporary Role (12 Months)

About the role

The Contracts/Shipping Engineer will manage the preparation and dispatch of shipments, ensuring the most economical method while meeting customer and regulatory requirements. This 12‑month fixed‑term position offers the chance to work closely with internal departments, customers, and external agencies to keep order status transparent and resolve issues proactively.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end despatch process and keep all stakeholders informed of shipment status.
• Liaise with HM Customs, shipping lines, international banks and other external agencies on behalf of Rotork.
• Enter data and generate consignments, invoices, credit notes and dispatch notes, both manually and via computer systems.
• Prepare all documentation required by HM Customs, EU, UK and destination‑country regulations.
• Book shipments and collections, respond to external enquiries, and provide shipping information to internal teams and overseas offices.
• Support the Shipping Team Leader and provide cover during absences.
• Maintain files in compliance with external inspection authorities and HM Customs & Excise.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Typically 2 years of experience in a similar shipping or contracts role.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and commercial awareness.
• Experience with material pricing and basic customer‑service interaction.
• Preferably experience in the valve industry.
