Control Systems Engineer (DCS)

About the role

The Control Systems Engineer (DCS) will ensure the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of fixed‑plant control systems at the Spence mining operation in Chile. You will lead maintenance and development strategies, support operational continuity and contribute to a strong safety culture aligned with BHP’s values.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess risks, applying BHP standards and risk‑management practices to support safe and productive outcomes.
• Execute strategies that develop team capabilities while reinforcing BHP’s purpose and values.
• Implement the Control Systems Strategic Plan through tactical planning that enhances system performance and supports short‑ and medium‑term decision‑making.
• Manage the control‑systems support and maintenance model, mitigating material risks and failures that could affect operational continuity.
• Ensure compliance with key management KPIs in line with BHP’s operating system.
• Coordinate and support improvement initiatives related to control systems, aligning with area objectives and stakeholder expectations.
• Implement lifecycle‑management strategies to maintain high service availability of control systems.
• Support the Service Owner function, including service continuity, vulnerability management and maintenance activities.
• Participate in engagement routines with key stakeholders to ensure continuity across the value chain.
• Provide technical and operational support to operational and functional areas.
