Data Center Technician II

About the role

Google’s Hardware Operations team is looking for a Data Center Technician II to join its data‑center workforce. The role involves installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting and maintaining server hardware and Linux‑based cluster software in a high‑performance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test and maintain servers, racks and related components.
• Troubleshoot and repair operating systems, server hardware and networking protocols.
• Configure network devices such as routers, switches, hubs and bridges.
• Lead or participate in small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.
• Perform manual movement and installation of racks, including lifting up to 50 lb and sustained physical activity.

Required profile

• Experience performing component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Ability to diagnose operating systems, computer/server hardware or networking protocols.
• Proficiency with Linux operating systems.
• Physical ability to lift/move 50 lb and sustain bending, kneeling, climbing and pulling.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 2 years of relevant experience in a data‑center or NOC environment.
