Design Engineer II

About the role

Fluor is seeking a Design Engineer II to support project delivery for U.S. government agencies. The role combines technical engineering work with administrative processes to ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Apply engineering techniques to medium‑complexity assignments and support the Area Lead on projects.
• Develop and review specifications and design criteria.
• Participate in equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
• Perform calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderate to complex engineering problems.
• Review vendor documentation for compliance and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze problems and provide independent recommendations aligned with project objectives.
• Execute cost‑competitive execution methods to optimize total project solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Accredited four‑year engineering degree (or global equivalent) with at least four years of relevant experience.
• Professional registration or certification preferred.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to interpret local, state/provincial, and federal regulations.
• Detail‑oriented, time‑effective work habits.
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes, standards, and material costs.
• Practical field experience and intermediate computer skills.
