Design Engineer II

About the role

The Design Engineer II provides essential administrative processes and technical expertise to support Fluor’s projects. This position helps promote Fluor’s competitiveness by delivering high‑quality, cost‑effective engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost‑effective total project solution.
• Develop and review specifications, including design criteria.
• Participate in equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting activities.
• Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderate to complex engineering problems.
• Review vendor equipment documentation for compliance and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze problems and make independent recommendations in line with project objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Accredited four‑year engineering degree (or global equivalent) and at least four years of relevant experience.
• Professional registration or certification preferred.
• Strong communication skills with management, clients, vendors and contractors.
• Ability to learn and apply local, state/province and federal statutes and guidelines.
• Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under time constraints.
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes, standards, material availability and cost.
• Practical field experience and intermediate computer skills.
