Designer I – 3D Layout & CAD

About the role

Fluor Constructors is seeking a Designer I to support the Design Area Lead by creating 3D layouts and 2D CAD drawings for moderately complex assignments. This entry‑level position offers the chance to contribute to innovative construction projects while developing technical expertise in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D layout models for a small set of moderately difficult design tasks.
• Prepare 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity.
• Review vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure adherence to industry codes, standards, and internal procedures.
• Support the Design Area Lead with additional technical tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Accredited two‑year degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and four years of related experience.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under time constraints.
• Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials.
• Practical field experience and ability to apply relevant statutes and guidelines.

Required skills

• Computer Aided Design (CAD) – both 2D drafting and 3D layout.
• Intermediate proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
• Ability to review technical documentation and ensure code compliance.
