Executive Housekeeper

About the role

The Executive Housekeeper is a senior member of the shipboard management team, responsible for overseeing all housekeeping functions and staff. Reporting to the Hotel Director, this role ensures that guest areas, staterooms, and laundry operations meet Royal Caribbean’s brand standards of cleanliness and presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, maintenance and presentation standards across all guest and crew areas, including staterooms, balconies, corridors, officer cabins, laundry, and storage spaces.
• Lead, motivate and coach a team of over 70 housekeeping staff, providing both classroom‑style and on‑the‑job training.
• Develop and manage the housekeeping schedule in coordination with shoreside support, ensuring adequate staffing for turnaround and luggage operations.
• Oversee laundry operations, budgetary control for housekeeping and laundry cost centres, and revenue streams such as floral cart and tuxedo programs.
• Drive guest satisfaction by monitoring performance metrics, handling guest concerns, and ensuring compliance with health inspections and quality reviews.

Required profile

• Minimum 5‑7 years of managerial experience in housekeeping/laundry for large 4‑ or 5‑star hotels, cruise lines, or comparable hospitality operations, supervising at least 70 employees and managing budgets over $1M.
• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong communication and diplomatic skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams and resolve guest issues effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Working knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemical handling, and public‑health standards.
