Health & Safety Engineer – Solar

About the role

Huawei Technologies is seeking a Health & Safety Engineer specialized in solar projects to support the implementation of its EHS strategy across multiple business units in Santiago, Chile. The role involves driving incident reduction, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and providing practical safety advice to project teams and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute EHS planning, audits, and safety controls for solar and BESS projects.
• Maintain compliance with BS OHSAS 18001 and local legal requirements, preparing for yearly surveillance audits.
• Conduct health and safety compliance audits across all business units and provide technical EHS solutions.
• Deliver health and safety training, including IOSH and H&S awareness programs.
• Perform construction site inspections, review phase plans, risk assessments, method statements, and lifting plans.
• Investigate incidents, produce detailed reports for management and customers, and support health and safety representatives.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience as an EHS engineer, preferably on PV, BESS or energy projects.
• Proven experience delivering training programs.
• Strong knowledge of BS OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and related occupational health and safety standards.
• Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and willingness to travel.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
